Natural hardwoods and hardwood veneers used in our products vary in color and grain pattern. Colors may vary from white, to red, to black, and even green, sometimes in the same door or drawer front. Some wood species such as maple have fairly smooth and even grain patterns, while others like cherry, have more open and sometimes even “wild” grain variation. Any natural wood material will have mineral streaks, worm tracks, small knots, and pitch pockets which are not considered a defect. Some woods, particularly cherry and maple, are susceptible to light and the environment, causing the wood tone to mellow and darken over time. All the variations described above are created by nature and are acknowledged as the “beauty of wood” and therefore are not considered defects.
